Welcome to this our first newsletter on our own website.
To celebrate this news let me tell you of some of the activity already in progress and planned for this year.
For us this meant the initial maintenance of our existing boats at the Beck Hill workshop.
Essential cleaning and servicing is required every year to keep the boats in tip top condition.
The completion of a rebuild project "Kathleen" was concluded and all this whilst observing strict Covid regulations.
Kathleen is now a regular, sailing from the harbour.
BSCPS acquired two boats from the Hartlepool Maritime Museum during the year.
John Clarkson and colleagues retrieved "Venus" and "Viking" two harbour pilot cobles.
Both vessels were in poor condition and initial surveys showed substantial work was needed to be done before either could ever sail also masts and sails were missing.
Venus the older boat (1900) entered the Beck Hill workshop with Viking (c1908) being stored temporarily at a members property.
At this time work on Venus is progressing well.
Tired materials have been removed and replaced with new thanks to the band of faithful volunteers directed by John Clarkson
